Sony Vegas 8 Question – Select part of a picture and add a glowing effect to change the colour?
In thе program Sony Vegas 8 hοw dο I select a specific раrt οf a picture (fοr example thе eyes οf a person’s face) аnd add glowing effects (change thе colour οf thаt specific раrt). I hаνе tried many different things аnd I саn’t seem tο gеt іt. I need a step bу step tutorial please. Thank уου ѕο much fοr thе hеlр!

First add the SAME picture 2 times into the time line.
One should be on top of the other one.
Click “Event Pan/Crop…” (It’s a square on the item you dragged into the time line) – Click that on the top picture.
A small window should open up. Near the end of that window there should be a time line. Onto the side of that time line there should be a “Mask” Option with a box that has not been checked. Check it.
You should get new tools (They are found to the left side of the small window) It should be selected on a picture of a cursor. Zoom into the eye or whatever you’re going to change the color of.
Find the “Anchor CREATION tool”, below the picture with the cursor.
Now once you have selected that tool, outline the “eye” or whatever you’re focusing on. To do this, you simply click around the thing your focusing on. When you’re done, make sure you click the square you first started on. (Where you first clicked). -That will connect all you’re clicks to close the shape you were focusing on. Everything else should turn darker in that small window. Now close it.
Add your Color Changing effect onto THE TOP PICTURE in the time line, The picture you just “Masked”.
You’re done! And you learned how to mask
Are you using Pro or Platinum? Pretty sure only Pro has the masking feature, which is what I used here.
To make the eye glow effect, I drew an oval-shaped, negative mask around each eye, feathering it outward at a very small percentage. I layered that mask over a solid color, underneath it a copy of the still image.
Made a video tutorial for you demonstrating the steps: http://www.werdofbert.com/2009/10/vegas-pro-8-tutorial-how-to-mask-to.html
Any further questions, leave a comment and I’ll get back to you. Excellent luck!
